Short: Extract and install archives using drag 'n' drop Author: Tim Cribbin (tim@cribbin.demon.co.uk) Uploader: Tim Cribbin Type: util/wb Requires: OS 2.x or better, lha, reqtools.library, Installer Architecture: m68k-amigaos A small program that allows the user to extract and install archived distributions (e.g. Aminet downloads) quickly and with the minimum of fuss. Opens as an appicon on Workbench. The user can either drag and drop an archive onto the icon or doubleclick it to bring up a file requester for archive selection. After selecting a temporary path, the archive is extracted and the resulting files are scanned for an Installer script. If one is found, Installer is automatically loaded and installation proceeds as normal. If no script is found the user is given the option to move the files to a permanent location. All temporary files are deleted once the process is over. Currently supports only LHA archives. If any interest is shown I can modify the code to support other compression types. ArcInstall is a stand alone program. It is also to appear as a function in the forthcoming release of Formation v2.0, the recently released virtual directory manager by the same author. Look in 'util/wb' for the current release. ArcInstall is Freeware. Mail me if you have any comments.
