System Requirements ------------------- - ANY 680x0 processor - OS 2.04 (V37) or later - no special memory requirements What is it for -------------- Everybody using an computer knows the situation that a file was deleted which should not. And everyone is happy having such smart tools like disksalve for recovering the lost data. But sometimes you probably would like to kill a file forever so that it cannot be recovered. At that point, wipe jumps in. Wipe tries to "emulate" the DOS delete-command but overwrites every file with a pseudorandom-number sequence before deleting it. So you may restore a file with the same name and size as the original, but the contents of the recovered file is only garbage. One backdraw of wipe in comparison to delete is, that it is slow. (Remember, I have to overwrite all the data and not just kill the index from the directory- tree). So use it only on data you really want to wipe out forever.
