Short: Unusual anim by Joseph Norman Architecture: generic Satan's National Park. -----------------------* This work, of a rather unusual name and theme, is the work of a good friend of mine, Joseph Norman. He is the graduate of a fine arts Univerity, that did not involve compter art, hence the "fresh feel"; The original ideas had to undergo *considerable* watering down and metamorphosis during discussions with myself; We were at the time limited to a 1meg A2000, and DPaint3, and neither of us had tried any animation before. (1) We definitely wanted to use digitized pictures as a backdrop to all the "action". We eventually had to limit the pictures to 6 grey levels, allowing two colours to be chosen at will (out of an 8-palette) (2) Joe's idea was originally of a "Roger Rabbit" type animation; This was before he discovered we would need 40 megs of mem for 5 minutes of such stuff!! Hence we ended up with something more like a storytelling-slideshow, than a real anim. *** AS SUCH IT MUST BE VIEWED AT QUITE A SLOW RATE!! ** *** TRY - in VIEW ** (3) I still do not understand all the symbolic ideas behind, this work, and so don't expect to either. Just enjoy!! This project has been quite a learning experience for me, and even more so for Joe, since he had to learn to grapple with mice, and Workbench, etc. It would be appreciated if you could let him or myself know of any comments, criticisms, hints or ideas. I am at lamptey@uk.ac.sheffield.acse co2dll@uk.ac.sheffield.sunc (if writing from U.K.) lamptey@acse.sheffield.ac.uk co2dll@sunc.sheffield.ac.uk (from anywhere else) or co2dll@167.143.1.2 (InterNet) Joseph is at 17 Manor Road, Rustington, West Sussex, BN16 3QT, Great Britain. p.s. Thanks to Eric Schwartz, whose work gave us some ideas as to the possibilities (even if we could not implement them!!) p.p.s. I also had a bash at icon-making! It's quite good fun! (I used the p.d. IconMeister) p.p.p.s. I cannot imagine getting this far, without spending $$$$$$$ if we were doing this on an MS-DOG!!!
