Short: Star Wars Outrider 3d model (Reflections) Author: rbublitz@datanet.ab.ca Uploader: Patrick Henz (phenz ibm net) Type: pix/3dobj Architecture: generic Star Wars - Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-2400 Freighter "Outrider" from "Shadows of the Empire" This is an Reflections model based on the book "The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels" by Bill Smith. It is to scale. "Dash Rendar is a cocky smuggler who, despite his abrasive and mercenary personality, aids the Rebel Alliance in the fight to overthrow the Empire. Dash flew with the Rebels at the Battle of Hoth and uses his ship, the Outrider, as a smuggling and courier vessel for Rebel missions. The Outrider is an ebony Corellian YT-2400 freighter converted for smuggling duty. The ship features the trademark saucer-shaped hull of the YT series, but it is a more modern YT-2400 (as opposed to the older YT-1300's, such as the Millennium Falcon). This newer ship is like most Corellian designs; fast, tough, and endlessly modifiable. With thick armor plating and bulky engines, the YT-2400 can easily handle the strain of deep-space combat. The vessel has power to spare and an oversize hull begging for hot-rodded engines and powerful weapons; it's obvious that when the Corellian Engineering Corporation sold this ship as a "stock cargo hauler" it was with a wink and a grin. Dash being a typical smuggler, decided to take advantage of the YT-2400's adaptability. His first step was to replace the engines with three stolen KonGar KGDefender military-grade ion engines. A modified SoroSuub Griffyn/Y2TG hypderdrive gives the Outrider a Class 0.75 hyperspace speed rating - slower than the Millennium Falcon's Class 0.50 hyperdrive but far faster than most military vessels, which are either class One or Class Two. Powerful shield generators and a highly illegal sensor stealth system make the Outrider a perfect smuggling ship. A pair of heavy Dymek double laser cannons, personally modified by Dash for greater range, are dorsal and ventral mounted on standard Corellian 1D servo turrets. They normally are manned but can be controlled via the targeting computer in the cockpit, although accuracy is than significantly reduced. Two forward-firing concussion missile launchers are mounted on the cockpit tube and have a magazine of three missiles each."
