Short: MIDI driver for COM ports on GG2+ Bus Author: Ian King Uploader: I King gre ac uk Type: mus/midi Version: v 0, realease 1 Replaces: none Requires: Amiga,OS 2.0+,GG2Bus+,PC COM ports. Architecture: m68k-amigaos Distr'bn: Aminet, Eyetech Group Ltd Date: 16 June 1997 This program is freeware. DISCLAIMER! I ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR .....Read here all the usual stuff. Description: This archive contains a MIDI driver which should be copied to your DEVS:midi drawer to work. It looks for two serial ports (COM1, COM2) on the GG2 Bus+ card (European Distributors: Eytech Group Ltd.), and if found will initialise them for use by your MIDI package such as Music-X. Please be aware that PC COM ports are limited to the baud rates which they can opperate and this driver sets the rate to 38400 BAUD. This is ok if you are fortunate enough to own a MIDI keyboard/sound-module etc. which has a serial port that will operate at 38400 BAUD. Example: To work in Music-X set the tooltype:- MIDIPORTS=internal,1A|ibmsmidi,2A,3B Tested: I have succesfully tested it on my A2000 68060, OS3.1 with GG2 Bus+ & 2 PC serial ports (COM1/COM2) and a KORG O5R/W connected via its serial interface & ROLAND CM64 conneced to the Korg's MIDI OUT port. The Keyboard controller was connected to the Korg's MIDI IN port. The software used was Music-X 2.0. Hardware: ????? I believe that there are interfaces available which will take a serial input at 38400 BAUD and give a MIDI port at 31250 BAUD. Perhaps I'll design one in the not to distant future. NOT YET TESTED! Alternatively, you may put a 15MHz clock onto (the correct pin) of a 8450/16450 instead of the existing 18.432MHz clock. NOT YET TESTED! This will give you 31250 BAUD at the COM port and using any available AMIGA MIDI interface hardware you may then connect your MIDI keyboard/sound-module etc. NOT YET TESTED! Please Email me with any bugs/questions etc. NB. This is my first ever attempt at assembly programming on the AMIGA. I was forced into it by there being no MIDI driver available that I could find for the PC COM ports fitted to my A2000. I found a lot of useful information on the Amiga Developers CD 1.1 and used Hisoft's Devpac2 to assemble the source.
